This is a consent document. What we process and why is explained separately, in our Privacy Policy.
The two consents below are independent and are given separately. Giving one does not give the other.
Chat does not work without this consent. It is asked in the app before your first conversation, on a screen titled "Before we talk"; the two paragraphs and the list below are the text shown there, in the same order.
So that you can be answered and content kept safe, what you share is transferred to a provider outside your country that serves Soulwise. It may count as sensitive data about your mental health. Data protection where that provider is based may differ from your own. The transfer rests on your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
That provider is OpenAI (United States), an AI infrastructure: it writes your replies, transcribes your voice in voice and video sessions, screens your messages for safety and summarises your sessions.
The session summary and the profile of recurring themes are inferences the AI writes about you; they are not facts or assessments, and they are given back to you as context in later sessions. They are part of the context sent to OpenAI.
This consent also covers storage: your conversation messages, mood check-ins, session summaries, the profile the AI keeps and your weekly letters are kept in your account, so you can return to your conversations and they can be used as context in later sessions. Without this consent, your messages and mood check-ins are not stored.
You can withdraw this consent at any time under Settings → Privacy. Processing stops at once and chat stops. Your stored conversations and messages, session summaries, the profile the AI keeps, mood check-ins, weekly letters and improvement samples are permanently deleted 30 days later — unless you turn the consent back on within those 30 days, in which case nothing is lost. Your account, settings and subscription stay.
Consent: I give my explicit consent for my conversation content, voice recordings, profile information and mood check-ins to be processed in order to generate replies for me, screen for safety, and produce session summaries and a profile of recurring themes; for my conversation messages, mood check-ins, session summaries and that profile to be stored in my account, and for them to be used as context in my later sessions; and for this data to be transferred for those purposes to an AI provider based in the United States.

If you give this consent, a copy of the recent part of your conversation is kept whenever you ask for a reply to be regenerated, and is used to improve the quality of Soulwise's replies. This is a separate purpose from consent 1 above: there, your data is processed to answer you; here, to improve the product.
Consent: I give my explicit consent for samples taken from my conversations to be stored and used for the purpose of improving Soulwise.
Both consents can be withdrawn with one tap under Settings → Privacy. Withdrawal takes effect going forward and does not undo processing that was lawful before. What happens to your data is described under each consent above. If you decline consent 1 when we ask for it again, the same 30-day rule applies.
